Burnaby, B.C. – Simon Fraser University Clan Director of Recreation and Athletics Wilf Wedmann announced today that David Johnson has been named the university’s head football coach. Johnson becomes the eighth head coach in the storied history of the Clan Football program. Wedmann made the announcement at a press conference Monday afternoon in SFU’s brand new West Gym facility.“We received a large number of applications for this position, and David [Johnson] was the unanimous choice of our student-athlete team captains, alumni, athletic department and coaching staff representatives,” said SFU head coach Wilf Wedmann. “[Johnson] has a passion for this game, is committed to building a successful program, is a proven recruiter, and we believe he will have a positive impact on our student-athletes in the short and long term.” Johnson, who for the past four years has successfully owned and operated Capital Tax Recovery in Scottsdale, Arizona, has been involved in football as a player or coach for over 30 years.
